The River's Way Mission:  "Providing Opportunities for Youth of All Abilities to Grow Through Outdoor Adventure Programming."

Populations Served By River's Way

Youth from Disadvantaged Backgrounds

River’s Way works with schools and social service agencies to provide adventure-based programming for youth from disadvantaged backgrounds. We focus on the development of positive behaviors that can be transferred from outdoor adventures to everyday situations at school and at home. Programs are run throughout the year and are customized to meet the needs of the groups that we work with.

Youth with Disabilities

River’s Way serves youth with a wide range of disabilities. During the school year, River’s Way works directly with special education classes and social service agencies, integrating academic and behavioral goals into adventure-based programs. Many participants in these programs enroll in inclusive River’s Way summer camps involving youth with and without disabilities. In addition, summer programs see the arrival of campers with disabilities from a broader geographical area including the Carolinas, northern Virginia and central Tennessee.
