Thomas Hanlon - Executive Director
Thomas has been the Executive Director of River’s Way since its formation in 1993. His education and previous work experience are centered around teaching, outdoor education and the development of leadership— themes at the heart of River’s Way programs. Before coming to River’s Way, Thomas taught school for eight years at the Minnesota Waldorf School. Prior to teaching, Thomas worked as a counselor in residential treatment facilities serving emotionally disturbed adolescents and as an instructor in an outdoor education center. Thomas’s education includes a BA from Middlebury College, a Waldorf Teaching Certificate and a Master’s Degree in Business Communication with an emphasis on organizational leadership. Tom is married and has three children.
Bryan Ulrich - Program Director
Before coming to Rivers Way in 2010, Bryan was a Special Education Teacher for 3 years in Phoenix AZ. He has over 10 years of experience working as a guide, wilderness therapy instructor and/or outdoor educator. Bryan has worked in a variety of locations across the country from Georgia to Alaska. Bryan holds a bachelors degree in outdoor education from Georgia College and State University and a master’s degree in Experiential Education from Minnesota State University. Bryan and his wife, Tiffany, have one son, Canyon. They have three dogs and a cat; Rudy, Heyleigh, Growler and Trekker. Bryan is also our fly fishing manager and guide here on the South Holston River. Please e-mail him for rates and reservations.
