The River's Way Mission: "Providing
Opportunities for Youth of All Abilities to Grow Through Outdoor
Adventure Programming."
Outdoor adventures are fun, but they are more than that. Adventures in caving, rock climbing, low ropes, backpacking, canoeing and rafting teach skills that help us in the everyday challenges that we face. Through hands- on adventure experiences, we learn new ways to work with others and new ways to better ourselves. We learn to persevere in the face of difficulties, to encourage and help out those in need and to ask others for support when we need it. At River’s Way, we feel that the profound benefits of adventure programming should be made available to youth of all abilities from all economic backgrounds. We focus our energies on two groups in particular: youth with disabilities and youth from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Inclusion:
Overcoming the barriers that divide us

River’s Way programs emphasize inclusion, team building, challenge, leadership and fun. Basically, inclusion means that we value each group member regardless of their ability level. We see every individual as capable of being a leader, of helping others, and of participating fully in activities. The small size of our programs, our flexibility, and the professionalism of our staff allow us to provide the environment and the supports that make this level of inclusion possible.
